Knitting U classes are offered one at a time for $17 per session. Sign up for 1 class at a time; cancel at least 2 days before the class date in order to get a refund. Open to students at all levels -- learn or sharpen skills, master new techniques, get help with a project. Limited to 5 students per class.

Knitting University is a comprehensive series of classes for the serious knitter.  All levels of knitters are welcome. Students are encouraged to work on projects of their choice.

For the beginning knitter, it starts with the basics.  Learn to cast on, knit and purl, and bind off.  You also learn to read a pattern, recognize garter and stockinette stitch, and create a border.  In each lesson, you build on your knowledge by learning how use circular and double pointed needles, increase and decrease, join colors, and make i-cords.

You now know everything needed to move on to the project of your choice and learn other techniques such as cable stitch, lace knitting, sweaters, and color-work.  In doing these projects more in-depth pattern and chart reading is covered, knitting a gauge swatch, sizing a garment, and bind-off alternatives such as 3 needle or i-cord bind-offs.

More experienced knitters will benefit from learning new techniques and exchanging ideas with others.  This course offers an opportunity to revisit those lurking, nagging UFOs you've stashed away for "later" -- expert instructors get you over the hurdles so you can finish them. A part of each 3 hour session is spent on a particular technique that may be useful to you in your knitting projects.

Virtual Classes, Knit-A-Longs, & Learn-A-Longs

In addition to Knitting U with Clara in the classroom, Lofty Lou's also offers virtual classes, KALs, and LALs with various instructors on Zoom. These are described on our homepage and listed in the Zoom schedule (also on the homepage).
